What a bright idea!

Curators are creative folk - and spending all day with the amazing objects in our collections can lead to some interesting trains of thought.

When assistant curator Lewis Pollard was looking at our lightbulb collection, objects from which may appear in our forthcoming Electricity exhibition, he suddenly had a bright idea (pun very much intended…)

The curious curator took to Twitter with his thoughts on the collection, little imagining that social media fame would follow.

Our historic and unusual lightbulbs quickly gained a following – with the thread garnering more than 1,000 likes and attracting the attention of a reporter from the Press Association.

For those who missed out on Lewis’s bright idea, here’s the thread in full. And if you like it, give him a follow – you can find him tweeting over at @circa1350BC
